Additional Comments:

For those of you who don't live near or around the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, last Friday at 2:57pm we lost Gary Papa, one of the best loved 6abc Sports broadcaster of Philly's time.

And we lost Harry Callous about 2 months ago, could be longer, time flies these days.  Harry was the Philadelphia Phillies ballgame announcer - for MANY Years.

Philly fans aren't done grieving over Gary and now this - Farrah, Ed Mc Mann (who got his start in Philly) and Michael J.

Life brings some wierd twists and turns, doesn't it?  Are we ever prepared for death?  Even our own?  This is just so sad - one week ago today at 2:57pm we here in Philly heard the announcement, "Gary Papa has passed."  All of us at work remained and stayed stunned all weekend long.....

Would you think about preparing your funeral before you die?  Is that too erie for you?

Gary Papa was especially sad.  I really thought he had won his battle.  What a brave soul he was!

I'd make "pre-need" arrangements.  Have I made them already?  No.

BTW, I'm originally from Philadelphia and I intend to return for a visit later this year.  It's been many, many years.  To give you an idea how long, I don't recognize either of the names in your topic.  The last baseball game I attended was at Connie Mack stadium which was around the time that John Facenda was "The Voice of Monday Night Football".

  • (Sam) That's cause she butchered Harry Kalas' last name! I've never been to Philly but am a Flyers' fan and everyone was pretty upset on the hockey boards I post on when Kalas passed away. It happened a few hours before he was supposed to call a game and they found him in the press box.
  • Speaking of the Flyers, I used to work in a sports complex in NJ where they came to both practice and teach a class to French Canadian kids who didn't speak much English. They were all very nice...eom...Mitch
  • (Sam) In Voorhees?
  • Yes. The Coliseum...eom...Mitch

Well, I'm a huge Six Feet Under fan, so I don't know if that makes me obsessed w/ death or not, LOL. Well, actually, I'm not, but I am very interested in what happens after death, as well as ghosts adn all of that fun stuff. I also am much more comfortable with teh concept of death than I was when I was younger. Like I just accept it pretty much...for anyone. It's still sad, but I accept it. Strange.

I doubt I'd ever plan my own funeral. Maybe, though. we'll see.

I'm not having a funeral, so I'm not planning it, but I am planning my death in case I get Alzheimer's or a terminal brain illness, especially if it's painful.

I have no desire to go out of this world a burden to my family, someone they don't recognize anymore. I would like to be remembered as I am.

I will be cremated and tossed into the pile of other people's bones and ashes. My daughter is appalled, but it's what I want. You don't need a plot and marker to be remembered.
